Many Shopify Merchants struggle to get sales for their store. A free shipping progress bar not only helps improve sales but average order value too. This article will walk you through how to add a free shipping progress bar to your Shopify store.
1. Install X Away from Free Shipping
On the Shopify Admin Dashboard, go to the search bar. Click “apps,” then type, “X Away from Free Shipping”
2. Shopify App Store
After typing “X Away from Free Shipping” and hitting the enter button, you open a new tab to the Shopify App Store. In the Shopify App Store, click on “X Away from Free Shipping”
3. App Store Listing
Once you click, you will get taken to the X Away from Free Shipping app store listing.
On the page, there is an “Install” button on the left side, click it.
4. Install
You will get taken back to the Shop Admin Dashboard where you will get the option to install the app. You will be able to view what the app has access to. Then, given the option to install in your store. Click the “install” button again.
5. Pay
You will get taken to a page to approve the subscription. Fill out the payment information and approve the purchase.
6. Online Store
The settings for the app are in the theme editor. Go to the theme editor by first clicking on “Online Store”
7. Customize
Clicking the “Online Store” tab will first show your store’s current theme. While viewing the preview of your current theme, there will be the “Customize” button. Click it.
8. Theme Editor
You are now in the theme editor, where you will work with the app.
9. Add to Cart
Add any product to your cart. This will ensure that the progress bar shows up when you go to make changes.
10. Add X Away from Free Shipping to your store
At the top of the theme editor there’s a tab that lets you choose what page you edit. Go to the cart page.
11. Cart Page
On the cart page, go to the left hand side. Click, “add section.” A pop up will show with 2 tabs, “sections” and “apps” click the “apps” tab. You will find X Away from Free Shipping, click on it.
You should now see a Free Shipping Bar in your cart. Click the X Away from Free Shipping icon in your Template section to edit the app in your cart.

Display Style
There are two options, Text Only and Text with a progress bar animation.
Amount to Qualify for Free Shipping
This will be the amount of money a visitor has to reach to “earn” free shipping
Progress Bar Style
This setting is where a Shopify Merchant will choose how the progress bar looks. There are two options, solid color or animated striped patterns.
Progress Bar Icon
Shopify Merchants have the option to add icons to the progress bar. The options include different currencies, a plane, trucks, a trophy, or award.
After
The next settings are for after someone reaches the free shipping amount. You can show the progress bar after they reach the amount or the icon after.
Size
This setting lets Shopify Merchants choose the size of the progress bar.
Message Settings
There are several messages you can add in your progress bar. You can display a message before the amount gets reached, one to display text after, and a success message.
Color Settings
There are different color options. Choose the colors for the dollar amount. Then, the background of the box, completed progress bar, and incomplete progress bar.
