Shopify made updates to their platform. They changed how to remove “powered by Shopify.” I will show you how to remove it in under 2 minutes.
Why Remove “Powered by Shopify”
Professionalism
“Powered by Shopify” text in your footer makes your store look lazy and unprofessional. “If the design of the store is lazy and unprofessional. Maybe the products they’re selling are the same quality.” It is possible for a visitor to your store to have that exact thought.
Better Use
Why bother using real estate on your own website to promote the platform? They don’t need it. Use it to your advantage. Offer a discount, “you made it to the bottom, use the code, “footer” for 5% off.”
Better than giving Shopify, a $100B company, free promotion on your website.
Tutorial
1. Click on “Online Store”
On the Shopify Admin Dashboard, click on the “Online Store” tab. By default, it will lead you to the “Themes” tab. Stay on this page.
2. The “...” Button
On the “Themes” page, you will first see the current theme that your store uses. On the bottom right hand side, there are 2 buttons. Click the “...” button.
3. Go to “Edit Default Theme Content”
After clicking the “...” button, a menu will pop up. At the bottom of the menu, there is “Edit Default Theme Content,” click it.
4. “Filter Items”
The “Theme Content” page contains many options. At the top, there is an input named “Filter Items." In the box, type “Powered.”
5. “Links” in “Checkout & System”
An option from “Links” in “checkout & system” should show up that says “Powered by Shopify”
6. Hit the "Space Bar"
In the input box that has “powered by Shopify,” hit the "Space Bar." The text box needs content. Hitting the "Space Bar" will give the input box content, but nothing will show up on your footer.
7. Then, Click the “Save” Button
Save your change
8. Check Your Home Page Footer
Congrats!! “Powered by Shopify” should be gone. Now, your site looks more professional and you can focus on getting more sales!!
